MULTI-TIERED STUDENT SUPPORT SERVICES

Tier 1

Universal Support Services

Standard and Competency based School Counselor Core Curriculum Lessons, Activities and Events for all students.


Tier 2

Targeted Interventions

Students who are exhibiting barriers to learning or struggling academically AND who are deserving of additional support services.


Tier 3

Intensive Interventions

Students who are experiencing an emergency or a crisis OR to support students with needs that remain unresolved from Tier 2.

Meet Your Counselors

The American School Counselor Association (ASCA) recommends an ideal caseload of 250 students per School Counselor.

Who are the School Counselors?

School Counselors are certified/licensed educators who help improve student success for ALL students by implementing a comprehensive academic counseling program. Appropriate duties include:

  • Individual student academic planning and goal setting

  • School counseling presentations based on student success standards (check the Multi-Tiered Support Services)

  • Short-term counseling

  • Referrals for long-term support

  • Collaboration with families, teachers, administrators, community for student success

  • Advocacy for students at individual education plan meetings and other student-focused meetings

  • Data analysis to identify student issues, needs and challenges
