AP Physics 1 & 2
AP Physics 1
AP Physics 1 is a college-level course that provides a deep understanding of the fundamental principles of physics and their applications to real-world situations. This course is designed for students who have a solid understanding of math through Math 2 and who plan to major in Biology, Chemistry, Physics, Engineering, or Computer Science.
In this course, you will explore the basis of all other science courses, as physics explains how the world works. You will apply math to the real world through hands-on labs and projects with physics "toys" and equipment, allowing you to gain a deeper understanding of the concepts covered in class.
As a college-level course, AP Physics 1 requires maturity to learn at a high level on your own or with other students. The course covers topics such as mechanics, fluids, thermodynamics, and electricity, and will challenge you to think critically and independently as you work through complex problems and apply physics principles to real-world scenarios.
Through this course, you will develop the skills necessary to succeed in college and beyond, including problem-solving, critical thinking, and experimental design. You will learn how to conduct scientific investigations, analyze data, and communicate results effectively.
By the end of this course, you will have gained a deep understanding of physics and the ability to apply it to real-world situations. You will be well-prepared to succeed in a college major in a science or technical field and to pursue a future career in these areas.
AP Physics 2
Santa Teresa High School's AP Physics 2 class is designed to provide students with a deeper understanding of the fundamental principles of physics. This course will cover a wide range of topics waves, electricity, magnetism, thermodynamics, atomic, and nuclear physics.
To enroll in this course, students must have earned an A in regular physics or a C in AP Physics 1. The course requires students to apply mathematical concepts to real-world problems and situations.
AP Physics 2 is a college-level course and requires a high level of maturity and self-discipline. Students will engage in hands-on and minds-on activities, completing labs and projects designed to develop their analytical skills and problem-solving abilities.
If you enjoyed AP Physics 1 or regular physics and plan to major in Physics, engineering, or Computer Science, this course is an excellent option for you. By taking AP Physics 2, you will gain a deeper understanding of the principles of physics and prepare yourself for college-level coursework in these fields.
