Santa Teresa students are expected to uphold a safe, respectful, and academically focused environment. Per district policy:
No bullying, harassment, discrimination, or hazing.
No weapons, fighting, or threats of violence.
No drug, alcohol, or tobacco possession or use on campus.
No academic dishonesty (cheating, plagiarism, etc.).
No gang-affiliated or inappropriate clothing.
No unauthorized use of phones or electronic devices during class time.
No leaving campus without permission.
Respect all staff and follow directions.
Personal devices must be off or silent during class unless approved for instruction.
Devices used in violation of classroom or school policy may be confiscated and returned later.

Regular fire, earthquake, and lockdown drills are conducted throughout the school year.
We follow the Comprehensive School Safety Plan in coordination with San Jose Fire and Police Departments.
In emergencies, staff may serve as Disaster Service Workers as required by law.

Daily attendance is expected and legally required.
Parents must report all absences promptly.
Students missing 5–15 days may request a Short-Term Independent Study agreement.
Unexcused absences and excessive tardiness may lead to administrative consequences.

Students are responsible for their personal items. The school is not liable for lost/stolen property.
Staff may search student belongings when there is reasonable suspicion of a rule or legal violation.

We prohibit discrimination, harassment, or retaliation based on race, gender, sexual orientation, disability, and other protected characteristics.
Students and families may file formal complaints via the district’s Uniform Complaint Procedures or Title IX channels.

Students are expected to dress in a way that is appropriate, non-disruptive, and safe:
No gang-related attire.
No clothing with hate speech, profanity, or drug/alcohol references.
No overly revealing clothing or attire that disrupts instruction.
Santa Teresa supports the use of restorative justice and student support teams as alternatives to suspension whenever possible:
Students may participate in reflection, peer mediation, and harm-repair circles.
Victims are offered support and safety planning.
