This page is your go-to resource for financial aid support. You'll find information on upcoming Cash4College workshops, guidance on how to start your FAFSA or CADAA application, and links to about two dozen scholarship opportunities to help fund your college journey.
If you're a California high school student getting ready to apply for financial aid, the first step is creating your FSA ID—your secure digital signature used to complete the FAFSA and manage federal student aid. Both you and a parent will each need your own FSA ID. To create it, go to StudentAid.gov and have your Social Security number, full name, date of birth, email, and phone number ready. After creating it, wait 1–3 days for confirmation. Once your FSA ID is active, log into CaliforniaColleges.edu and follow the steps under the Financial Aid tab to launch and submit your FAFSA or CADAA. Need help? Attend a Cash for College workshop for step-by-step guidance.

The FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid) is the form students use to apply for financial aid from the federal government, California, and many colleges. It helps determine your eligibility for grants, scholarships, work-study, and low-interest student loans—making college more affordable for you and your family.
The CADAA (California Dream Act Application) is for undocumented and nonresident students who qualify for in-state tuition under AB 540. It allows eligible students to apply for state financial aid, including Cal Grants, scholarships, and other college funding—just like the FAFSA, but specifically for Dreamers.
California Community Colleges offer an affordable path to higher education, and many students qualify for the California College Promise Grant, which covers tuition for eligible in-state students. To apply, just submit the FAFSA or CADAA. Most campuses also offer EOPS (Extended Opportunity Programs and Services), which provide extra support like academic counseling, book vouchers, and tutoring for students facing financial or educational challenges. If you're planning to transfer, the Cal State EOP (Educational Opportunity Program) offers similar services at CSU campuses—plus an annual EOP grant—to support first-generation and low-income students from admission through graduation.
