Genres of Composition is a concurrent enrollment course designed to help juniors and seniors develop their abilities in composition and response techniques with an emphasis on understanding and responding to informational and literary text. Students can be enrolled in this course alongside an additional English course. Students read a wide range of informational and literary texts to supplement their reading, writing, speaking, and critical thinking skills.
Throughout the course, students produce a variety of narrative, informational, and argumentative compositions, allowing them to practice and develop their writing skills in various genres. Additionally, students will engage in a range of projects, including resume designing, presentations, multi-genre projects, and reflecting on self-identity.
The course is designed to equip students with the necessary skills to excel in college-level writing, and beyond. Through a focus on critical thinking, reading, and writing skills, students will develop their ability to analyze and respond to a wide range of texts, both literary and informational, and communicate their ideas effectively.
